    The template has a problem with the charachter encoding.
    Digits lik ‘Ä’, ‘ö’ ‘ü’ was wrong

      TheGrue Reply

      From my side the character encoding works fine, for both headings and content, you can check the online demo, I have added these special characters to the second slide. Also checked on the development server and there is no problem with the template.In the past a client had the same problem, but it was caused by the server. I’m not sure what is the problem in your case.

    I want to delete the header image, the building, or maybe change it, but I can’t do it.

      TheGrue Reply

      You can change the image by replacing it in the template folder: /templates/blue-point/images/header.jpg
      You can remove by editing the styles.css file and remove the background image in the following code:
      #header-i {
      background: url(“../images/header.jpg”) no-repeat;
      border: 1px solid #e4e4e4;
      padding: 10px;

      In the styles.css at line 127, add the height option for the header id:
      #header-i {… height:200px …}
      The rest of the code should remain as is, just add the height and adjust it for your needs.

    To organise that i creat custom html modules for each page, thats not the problem.

    QUESTION: How can i use the position of where the slider shows when activated to put my custom modules in that position?
    (Its not a regular position and im not a expert at all (lol) )

      Hi Karsten,
      the width of the content is defined in the /css/styles.css file at line 17:
      .container { …
      max-width: 960px;
      min-width: 220px;
      Just change the max-width from 960px to 1366px;

          TheGrue Reply

          You should do some changes in the styles.css file:
          1. to change the height of the header find the css id and add the height -> #header-i {… height:140px; }
          2. you want tho change the width of the sidebars or want to make some changes to the menus in the sidebars?

      As I asked before you want to make the sidebars thinner? This is the code that you have to edit in styles.css:
      #leftbar-w { max-width:150px}
      #rightbar-w { max-width:150px}

      Unfortunately this is not possible. Probably you could do something like that using a module.

    as much as I like the Blue-Point Template I would like to change the headers and menu font color etc. from blue to green because this matches our club’s color. How can I do that?
    Thank you for your help

    • the grue
      TheGrue Reply

      You will have to edit the styles.css file and change the colors there. To edit the headings of the articles you should look for .item-page-title {} and to change the menu colors you should start with editing the color of #navigation {} and all the sub styles of this css id.

    Hi, in IE7 and IE8, everything below the main menu is shown responsive, e. g. the left bar is enlarged to the complete width. How can I fix this? Alternatively I would like to ignore the responsive function for IE<9.

    • the grue
      TheGrue Reply

      All templates has been updated about a week ago and we have corrected this issue. Now they should look fine on IE8 and older versions as well. Not sure if everything works on IE6.

      • Stephan Reply

        Thank you for your quick response and the bugfix! The support is great, it works fine.
        Just one thing is left for the mentioned browsers: the submenues (2nd layer and deeper) of the main menu are hidden behind the main content. Maybe it’s a z-index thing. Could you have a look, please? Thanks in advance.

        • the grue
          TheGrue Reply

          The sub-menus works fine in IE8, just tested it. Are you using the core article component or a different component for rendering the content (K2 or something similar)? It is definitely a z-indexing problem, but I’m not sure what is causing it. With the Joomla core components the menu works just fine.

  13. Wade M. Reply

    Well I have an issue. My Copyright & Footer Menu is overlapping or underlapping the Breadcrumbs mod. Here is a image what it looks like.

    I didn’t change anything in footer section in the css file.

    • the grue
      TheGrue Reply

      It looks like there is an open div tag in a module or in the content, that breaks the layout. Without seeing the code, can’t say what the problem is.

  14. Wade Mo. Reply

    Ok, I manage to the get the site up on a actual server, I am using Chrome you can use their Element to see what the problem is. Please let me know what you find out.

    • the grue
      TheGrue Reply

      I was not able to identify the problem, but probably there is an open div tag somewhere in the code and that is why the module preview look messed up. Have you tried to add actual modules to those module positions to see how it renders?

  15. rotwildmarcy Reply

    Maybe a stupid question, but how do i get the drop down menu working?

  16. Wade M. Reply

    Well I did try my shop category mod to the copyright. Nothing changed still the same it never moved to the bottom of the footer. So I moved it back.

  17. Wade M. Reply

    Well how can you widen the main contents if you look at the main page, the image is off to the left?

    • the grue
      TheGrue Reply

      Not sure what the problem is, but as I told before there are some css bugs in your site. It could be styling but I think that there are open div tags. You edited any php files in the template?

      • Wade M. Reply

        Nevermind I got it fixed now. It was in the CSS.

        I change this:

        #comp-wrap {padding:0}

        to this

        #comp-wrap {width: 775px padding:0}

        and it worked.

        • the grue
          TheGrue Reply

          Just one more thing: the #comp-wrap will not change the size of the #post, because the #post is limited via a class to have a maximum width of 49%, so if you want to make sure that the content area fits 100% you should resize the #post.

  18. Wade M. Reply

    Ok, I have made an image whatever the blue is highlighted that is the width of the main content. I want that wider.

    • the grue
      TheGrue Reply

      Got it! You will have to add the following code to styles.css:
      #post {width:775px!important}

      Thank you for letting us know about this error. It was a php error in the /blue-point/html/modules.php on line 36 and has been fixed. All templates has been updated and you can download the new version.
      If you have customized the template already and don’t want to lose your work or to reinstall the template, you can just overwrite the modules.php file.

    I am using this template and I love it. But I have two problems: how can I reduce the width of the horizontal menu, I would that coincide with the width of the site and not the entire page; I would also change color to the navigator of slideshows, I would change the white.
    thanks really

    • the grue
      TheGrue Reply

      To limit the width of the navigation menu you have to edit the styles.css and define a maximum width for the navigation container:
      #navbar-wrap {…; max-width:960px}
      To change the color of the navigation dots you should add the following line to the styles.css file:
      .flex-control-paging li a { color:#fff!important}
      Replace the #fff with the color code you would like to use instead of white.

      • emanuela Reply

        Thanks a lot, I can change the color of the navigation dots but if I introduce #navbar-wrap {…; max-width:960px}, the navigation bar moves across to the left.
        And then another problem: how can I remove the logo text “Blue Point”. If I remove it and save, the name returns.

        • the grue
          TheGrue Reply

          You should add the margin:0 auto as well to the #navbar-wrap to center the menu.
          #navbar-wrap {max-width:960px; margin:0 auto}
          The logo text will display by default, even if you remove it, it will still show the “Blue Point”. The simplest workaround could be to add a space ” ” instead of any text.

    • the grue
      TheGrue Reply

      Unfortunately there is no option in the template parameters to disable mobile version, however if you remove all the @media styles from styles.css, the template will remain the same for smaller screen resolutions.

      • rotwildmarcy Reply

        Thanks for the info.
        It would be ok if i just could disable some modules.
        Is it possible to use a module suffix similar to ‘hidden-phone* like with bootstrap?

        • the grue
          TheGrue Reply

          Yes, that is possible, but you will have to edit the styles.css and add the following code:
          @media all and (max-width:768px) {
          .hidden-phone {display:none}

    Hi, i’m using your blue-point template on a virtuemart 3 site.

    I think it’s an issue of your template, maybe it’s not compatible with Virtuemart 3? Is there anything i can do?

    • the grue
      TheGrue Reply

      The template was not designed to be compatible with Virtuemart, but don’t think that the error is caused by the template. As far as I know VM has an in-built default template that will be active on product pages if the current Joomla template does not have overrides for the VM template. Do you have an online url where you get this error?

  23. emanuela Reply

    I solved, the problem was the div tag incompatible with the tag hr id = “system-readmore, it’s not a problem of the template.

        • the grue
          TheGrue Reply

          I’m not 100% confident about what problem you have, but I saw a screenshot of your forum, where the navigation was messed up. To fix that you should edit the bootstrap.min.css file in the bluepoint template at line 218:
          .pager::before, .pager::after, .pagenav::before, .pagenav::after {contetn:””; display: table; line-height: 0;}
          Remove the contetn:””; from the code.

          Other users also reported incompatibility problems with the Kunena forum, I think that the main problem here are the bootstrap styles; both the template and the forum style use bootstrap elements, and some of the template overrides these in the forum. You can try to remove the bootstrap.min.css file from the index.php and see if you still have problems with the forum, but removing the style sheet may cause other problems in the template, for example on the contact form and page navigation.

    The browser displays an error: it can’t show the website because of a content encoding error. This happens in Firefix, Chrome and Internet Explorer.
    When I use one of the standard Joomla templates this problem is gone. And after returning to Blue Point the problem is back again.
