How to build a website with iPage’s website builder

The internet has evolved very much in the last couple of years. As internet expands, thousands of websites are going live every day. But how is this possible at such a very high rate?

Website building has also changed a lot and has reached a new level, where not only persons who learned building sites can create an online property, but anyone can build their own website with minimal or none technical knowledge. How is this possible? In this article I will show you how easy is to create a website with the website builder offered by iPage web hosting.

Few thinks you should know about iPage: is one of the most popular hosting company, who has been in the business for over a decade. The company offers a feature-full shared hosting plan, at a very competitive price. They also offer virtual and dedicated hosting, but in this article we will be focusing on building a website on a shared hosting account, and probably in another article we will talk more about their other plans as well.

In the following I will show you with screenshots how easy is to build a website, without using a single line of code, pure drag-and-drop website building. It will be fun!

I assume, you have gone through the signup process and already have at least one domain added to your account. You can either register a domain for free with iPage or you can just change the name servers of your existing domain and add it to your ipage account at add-on-domains section.

Building your site with the drag and drop website builder

Step 1 – Go to the main control panel and click on the Weebly Drag and Drop Builder.

Step 2 – Add the domain name you want to build your website on. If there is an existing website on your domain, make sure you back it up, because this process will delete all the files that are in the folder where the domain is located.

Step 4 – Choose a design from the hundreds of per-made templates. Browse the template gallery and find an appropriate design to your needs. You can change colors, fonts by editing the template settings, and can also customize the layout, just by simply dragging and dropping design elements.

Step 5 – Drag and drop the design elements you want to use. You can add titles, text, slideshow, gallery (adding images to the gallery or slideshow is also very simple, just browse your computer, select the image you want to upload and you are ready), contact form or even Google maps plugin.

Step 6 – Add new pages easily, by clicking a button. Choose the layout, configure page title, add keywords, meta description, etc. The basic package allows you to add up to 6 pages, however you can add as many as you want it you upgrade the premium website builder.

Step 7 – Publish your website and check to see if everything works as you planned. If you want to edit something, you can do it anytime. Once your site is published, it will be available to your friends and potential customers.

If you are a small business, I suggest getting a professional email account like this will make a very good impression to your clients. If you are running an offline business, put the website url and email on your business card and tell your clients, that you have a website and ask them to check it out.

Good luck with and have fun building your own website. If you have any questions, do let us know in the comments.

You can upload any page you want to your ipage account. You will have to copy and paste the content from the reference page and add it to your site. Make sure that the content you are using from other websites is not copyrighted, or if the website author allows you to republish their content, and with what conditions.
If you want to copy content from other page automatically, you will have to use cron job to schedule this task.
Have you tried to contact their support and ask for help? They are very friendly and will give your more detailed answers to your questions.

Hi, So once you’ve set up your iPage account, you decide to create a website and it takes you to Weebly? Do you then have to pay more to create the website through weebly or is this all included in the iPage package? Thank you!

Hi Amy! Ipage integrates with Weebly, that means you will be able to build your website using this tool right from your iPage account. You don’t have to pay extra to use Weebly, however the standard account allows you to publish only couple of pages (about 5-6 pages). If you want more pages, you will need to upgrade your iPage account.
